I have been busy trying to get this thing up and running correctly I forgot to post an article that is all about the new features compared to the old site. So lets get started.

One of the biggest changes is the look and feel of the site. This took me about two weeks to get the feel just right. There probably going to be changes here and there but this is going to be the overall look.

You may have noticed that there are a lot more categories for stuff. I took the Newsletter that is mailed out and I incorporated the each section. Here is the great thing about this, all of the executive command staff can post in any category while the Sergeants and Corporals can post into there respective category. The reasoning for this is that the old site was maintained by two or three people so nothing really was added. Now hopefully with all of these people the site will be updated more than once or twice a month.

Those where the big things that have changed.

  • Calendar
  • Polls
  • Classified Ads
  • Forum
  • Information Section (For the public.)
  • Upcoming Events Box
  • Article Sections for all parts of the reserves
  • Private Messages (like email for the site)

Bill and I are thinking about adding a signup form for events that is placed in the calendar. I don't know how well it will work out that is why it is currently not available. An idea of an hours form has also been thrown around but that might not workout either. The problem with these features is it will a extra work for the people that are in charge of the paperwork.
